The diabolical plan to take over the culinary TV world continues with Food Network’s newest handmaiden: the Cooking Channel.
Launching May 31st, Cooking Channel will feature familiar faces like Aida Mollenkamp and “Iron Chef” Michael Symon, along with new blood for a diverse slate.
The primetime breakdown:
- “Unique Eats” – A spotlight on America’s revolutionary and original cuisine
- “Drink Up!” - Darryl “Dr. Mixologist” Robinson hosts happy hour from New York City with unique concoctions
- “Foodcrafters” – Aida Mollenkamp travels the country to focus on handmade foods
- “Foodography” - Comedian Mo Rocca hosts a look at food culture, past, present and future
- “Food Jammers” – A culinary contraption is conceived in the warehouse studio
Daytime:
- “Spice Goddess” – Simple, tasty everyday Indian meals by Bal Arneson
- “Indian Food Made Easy” – More Indian food, this time by Anjum Anand
- “Cook Like an Iron Chef” (July premiere) – Iron Chef Michael Symon teaches the skills he uses in Kitchen Stadium. Chef challengers and fellow Iron Chefs stop by.Allez cuisine!
- “Caribbean Food Made Easy” (August premiere) – Levi Roots does Caribbean cuisine around the UK and in the Caribbean
- “Julia Child”/”Galloping Gourmet” cooking block (June premiere)
Over on the older sibling Food Network old favorites will return while new primetime series featuring Tyler Florence and Adam Gertler, among others.
New primetime series premieres:
- “Cupcake Wars” (June 18, 10 p.m. ET/PT) – Master bakers put their best cupcake forward. We’re hoping this one doesn’t have the dreaded oversized moving presentation portion. Cupcakes are wee for a reason.
- “24 Hour Restaurant Battle” (July) – Think of the Restaurant Wars episode on “Top Chef” and you get the idea for this series hosted by Chef Scott Conant.
- “Kid in a Candy Store” (July) – Adam Gertler tracks done creative, over-the-top sweets worldwide.
- “Food Trucks (working title)”(August 15, 10 p.m. ET/PT) – Tyler Florence hosts this competition show as food truck cooks make food and travel across the country
Returning favorites:
- “The Next Iron Chef: Season 3″ (Fall 2010) – Alton Brown is back to host more smackdowns in Kitchen Stadium
- “Worst Cooks in America: Season 2″ (1st Quarter 2011) – The hopeless are back to get instruction from Anne Burrell and “Dinner: Impossible’s” Chef Robert Irvine.
- “The Next Food Network Star: Season 7″ (2nd Quarter 2011) – Which unknown will prove to have the culinary chops and starpower to land themselves a Food Network gig?
